First post!

Finally, after about 10 years, this is the 4th incarnation of my website, and it has a blog now! (It's also editable online, at least for me :). The site is powered by dokuwiki and locked down as mentioned in the CMS pages. I also added the blog plugin and (for prettier syntax) the Creole plugin. Finally, I tweaked the Arctic theme (yay sidebars) to look more silvery and show way less of the wiki behind everything.

It took me about a year to decide on a software to power this site. I wanted something small, without a database, but with the ability to have static pages, blog entries and comments, and nice page urls. Ideally, it would be written in python and also have recaptcha for comments. I looked at lots of software (Flatpress and moinmoin were pretty high on my list, as was blog_my), but all of these were lacking something. Dokuwiki isn't written in php, and also has no recaptcha for comments, but I hope I won't have comment spam so soon anyway. The documentation mentioned above was very helpful to hide the wiki nature of this site from everyone but me, and the theme engine is quite nice too - it was quite easy to set it up this way, and quicker than with some of the other options I tried.

So, I hope everyone else will enjoy my new site (and possibly occasional blog updates, especially on the baby :) as much as I did configuring it, and if you notice any problems, please let me know! My email address is in the footer below (at least for that, I got a recaptcha :).
