new blog and new look!

Finally, after nearly 6 months of trying to decide what to do with my website, I have updated the software again. Not many people will notice or even care, but here's what I did:

  • I used the excellent pypress, a pretty solid wordpress clone written in python using the wonderful flask framework.
  • I dropped the weird chinese WYSIWYG editor, all the twittery stuff and the ability to upload links. I wrote a new theme, tweaked a couple of the URLs, added a recaptcha to the comments, and generally tweaked the whole thing to my liking. YAY for open source software, especially the stuff written in cool frameworks and fun languages :)
  • I may try and set up github to actually fork my changes - maybe somebody else might be interested.
  • The look is slightly different from last time, but still grey (what do you expect from a site with silver in its name?)

Have fun, comment and don't spam, please :)

freshen: Behavior Driven Development and testing for python (and django)

Having stumbled upon freshen recently and not finding much about it on the web apart from the (entirely sufficient) documentation, I decided to use my seldom-updated blog to help remedy that situation.

1st post

First post!

Finally, after about 10 years, this is the 4th incarnation of my website, and it has a blog now! (It's also editable online, at least for me :). The site is powered by dokuwiki and locked down as mentioned in the CMS pages. I also added the blog plugin and (for prettier syntax) the Creole plugin. Finally, I tweaked the Arctic theme (yay sidebars) to look more silvery and show way less of the wiki behind everything.

downtime

Downtime
